K>P> 24 Medicated Foam
This lice treatment was recommended to us by a chemist - we had ran out of the other brand we had used.
It is a chemical treatment. They also sell a washing treatment for bed linen etc.
According to the packaging and information leaflet, it kills lice and eggs on contact and even prevents reinfestation.
Despite being called foam, the product is a liquid in a glass bottle. The liquid is easy to use and does seem to spread through hair quite easily.
The procedure is to apply the liquid to wet hair, massage it in and leave it for five minutes. Rinse it out and repeat. Quite simple to carry out - as long as the child doesn't get too bored sitting in a bath or shower for that long!
For maximum protection , the procedure can be repeated "every 6-7 days for a period of 6 weeks or until the outbreak at school is checked."
We used a timer to ensure we left it on long enough both times.
Next day, I found half a dozen live lice in Emily's hair. By the end of the week, her hair was full of lice and eggs and needed to be combed out and retreated.
