Chesterfield Farm, Melbourne

Chesterfield Farm is an old farm on Ferntree Gully Road, Scoresby, Vic. It has been converted into a children's farm.

As well as the expected cows, sheep, chooks, goats, dogs and ducks, they also have Kangaroos, Emus, Ostriches, Deer and Water Buffalo.

There is a baby nursery as well where children can cuddle and pet rabbits and guinea pigs as well as young ducks, sheep, goats, Alpacas and look at a calf and piglet - obviously, these animals can change depending on which have babies at the time!

At 11.00 every day and 2.00 on weekends and school holidays, there is a show in the Barn.

The show is interesting and the presenter is great at involving the children whilst also talking to adults! The show includes the milking of a cow (by machine,) separating the milk and cream (manually by a child!) and a sheep dog rounding up some sheep to bring them close to the audience. Some baby goats were also fed and a whip was cracked.

There are many picnic tables on site and two different rooms are available for hire for birthday parties or other functions - birthday party costs are normal entry prices apparently, but the family provides all food and decorations etc. Prices are a bit different for other group bookings (eg playgroups & large Xmas parties.)

There is also a cafe at the entrance.

Tractor rides do a circuit of the farm, but cost $2 per person.

The farm is fun and does interest the kids. Many of the animals can be approached and petted by the children.

Entry prices are

Adult $10
Child/Concession $7.50
Under 3 $0.00
Family $25.00 (up to 3 children I think)
